There's no glossy magazine fluff, no standard guidebook descriptions, no promotional hype; just honest, accurate, well-written and detailed articles that speak to an educated, curious and well-traveled audience. WeLoveCostaRica.com is looking for talented, dedicated writers, photographers and researchers to join our team. We welcome queries and articles from amateur writers and travelers with a strong writing style and something unique to share with our audience. Please do not call with questions. Writing About Costa Rica: Articles must cover a unique aspect about Costa Rica. Specifics are very important. Don't generalize, give us the names, addresses, phone numbers, prices and website URLs. Give us the details we'll need if we want to go there. Specifically, we are accepting queries and articles that fit within the following categories:
- Costa Rica Real Estate
- Costa Rica Living
- Costa Rica Retirement
- Costa Rica Health
- Costa Rica Culture
- Costa Rica Leisure
- Costa Rica Business
Articles should be 300-1,500 words and when finally submitted should be emailed as an attachment in .txt format (Notepad) and never in Microsoft Word (.doc) format. All articles should include names of businesses, restaurants mentioned in the article along with contact information, prices, availability, and amenities. Please include as many relevant web site URLs as possible. Reports & Books: We may also have an interest in marketing your book or comprehensive report about Costa Rica in digital form. Please email us a one page summary of what you have ... Submission Procedures: 1. For articles, query first with a one-page email describing the proposed article and include the writer's background and/or writing experience, which department the article is for, date of delivery and whether or not the article has been published elsewhere. Please do NOT send us a query that is too long. 2. Tell us about your publications credits, and indicate availability and format of photographs. Queries are accepted by e-mail only. No phone calls please. Query must include your name, telephone numbers and any alternative e-mail addresses. Response time for queries is normally 3-5 days. 3. Indicate the availability of photographs which must be in digital .jpeg or .gif formats ONLY. Unsolicited Articles 1. WeLoveCostaRica.com also accepts unsolicited feature article submissions, but please read our guidelines! Please submit documents as text only attachments .txt format (Notepad) and never in Microsoft Word .doc format with your name, telephone numbers and any alternative e-mail addresses and word count on the first page, and your name on each subsequent page. 2. Include a cover letter describing the article, which department the article is for, how the information was researched, your background and/or writing experience, and whether or not the article has been published elsewhere. 3. Indicate the availability of photographs which must be in digital .jpg format. Unsolicited articles are accepted by e-mail (attached in .jpeg or .gif formats only) ONLY. Response time to unsolicited material is 1-2 weeks. Please do not phone for status! Photographs Do not send photos unless we specifically request them. If requested, we can use six photographs per article and photographs should be sent via e-mail in .jpeg or .gif formats only. Photographs should be 72 dpi and no larger than 500 pixels across. Please include the photographer's name in the body of the email and the names of subjects (if possible or applicable), and descriptions of people and places and activities in the photo. In some cases, photographs of people must have subjects' permission for publication. Proof of permission will be required. Contact Queries and submissions may be sent to us by Contacting Us here. Rights WeLoveCostaRica.com purchases First Worldwide Electronic Rights. WeLoveCostaRica.com retains the right to archive and reprint all articles and guides for five years after initial publication. We will occasionally purchase reprint rights for material that has not appeared previously in another publication or web site catering to our audience. Simultaneous submissions should be clearly noted. Payment Payment is made upon publication. Payment will be made electronically so after we have agreed to accept your articles, please email us your bank account details. WeLoveCostaRica.com pays US$20 for articles.
